Mechanic

 

Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility of the technician is to diagnose/repair all types of construction equipment and perform repairs as needed on company owned trailers and trucks.
• Technicians will need to service & diagnose light to heavy duty trucks and make necessary repairs as needed.
• Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, diesel mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting. Also, includes Preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Detection of faults using diagnostic computers, gauges, and instruments in all mechanical systems: electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines and general machines. Occasional operation of machines in the determination of repair need or repair assessment may occur.
• Technicians will need to have good knowledge of light to medium duty trailers electrical and maintenance.
• Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications though the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling. Occasional use of basic welding equipment. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Research repair needs and order parts as needed.
• Clean, paint restore equipment as needed.
• Field service calls as needed.
• Maintain a clean organized shop and assist with outside yard maintenance.
• Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
• Any and all duties as assigned.

• GMC trucks 2500 – C6500
• Ford L8000 Vac-truck.
• Hitch mounted trailers from 3000 lbs. – 30,000 lbs.
• Company fleet cars.
• CAT skid steer and mini Toro
• CAT & Yanmar mini excavator
• Vermeer directional drill 9x13 – 24x40
• Small gas engines.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

• High school diploma. Junior college certificate preferred.
• Minimum of three years as a mechanic required.
• Work overtime and or weekends if needed.
• A.S.E. certified in at least two of the basic certification areas or 5 years’ experience.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Work record that demonstrates dependability.
• Able to work harmoniously with construction personnel.
• Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or willing to obtain within 90 days.
• All hand tools required to perform repairs.

Utility Locator

Work Location: Central Illinois 

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour 

Job description: 

Stratus Construction is currently hiring experienced Locators. Our technicians spend their workdays on the go, independently working in the field using their company-provided vehicle. You will utilize our ticket management systems to ensure clear and complete mark-out services for the excavator or property owner at the work site. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground telecommunications. 

• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location and completing the necessary documentation for each locate. 

• Must be computer proficient 

• Positive, can-do attitude 

• Willingness and desire to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality results 

• Possess good time management skills 

• Able to walk up to 5 miles a day in all weather conditions 

• Willing to train and accept feedback according to Stratus procedures 

• Understanding of basic bonding and grounding 

• Operate different electronic detection equipment, and Ground Penetrating Radar to locate and mark underground utilities within set accuracy limits 

• Use a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary 

• Able to use all required personal protective equipment/Safely operate company vehicle 

• Previous experience is a plus
