EPL/EVPL

Ethernet Private Line &
Ethernet Virtual Private Line

As wired telephone peer-to-peer services like T1 lines become obsolete due to security and speed limitations, businesses need faster, more secure, and more reliable solutions. Stratus Networks uses advanced technologies to efficiently and quickly transfer data between locations.
Whether you’re connecting to a server in another state or sending data across town, choosing the right service can save you money, speed up data transfers, enhance security, and boost overall business efficiency. Here are the options currently deployed by Stratus.

Ethernet Private Line

Ethernet Private Line (EPL) is a dedicated communication line that connects two locations. It’s a cost-effective option that lets you manage the connection with your own equipment. With EPL, you can use any VLANs or Ethernet control protocols without needing to coordinate with Stratus.

Ethernet Virtual Private Line

Like EPL, Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) is a dedicated communication line, but it allows you to connect multiple locations by linking each end point to your network-to-network interface (NNI). Put simply, it creates a hub-and-spoke configuration. This service is primarily used in our wholesale environment.

EPL and EVPL Advantages

  • Easy to implement
  • Creates a private WAN
  • Bypasses the public internet
  • High-speed, low-latency connection
  • Fast and secure
  • More affordable than private lines
  • Consistent quality of service (QOS)
  • Layer 2 service
