VIRTUAL PRIVATE LAN SERVICE
As in EPL and EVPL, VPLS is also a dedicated line of communication, however, this is a point to multipoint solution allowing data to flow directly to the receiving end without the need for an NNI. The need for multiple unidirectional connections is eliminated since Stratus creates the mesh within its fiber backbone. VPLS allows the use of any VLANs or ethernet control protocols without coordination with Stratus and is also capable of handling Legacy Protocols if needed.
